What is LEED?

LEED Reporting

LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a global green building certification program to assist building owners and operators in using resources more efficiently and in a more environmentally responsible way. Created by the United States Green Building Council ("USGBC"), LEED certification is based on rating systems for design, construction, operation, and maintenance of buildings, homes, and even neighborhoods. The rating system components are weighted based on environmental priority.

For all non-LEED v4 projects, the waste management report ADR provides includes the potential for four separate recycling streams (Concrete, Metal, Wood, and Mixed C&D) and a single residual or trash stream. We provide details for each dumpster and a holistic view of the project free of charge.

It is important to note that, unlike LEED v4 reporting, each dumpster is only one recycling stream based on its contents, not multiple streams.

LEED v4 reporting is significantly more in-depth and requires that we notify the transfer station before debris disposal. The transfer station takes a regular mixed C&D can and provides significant granularity on six different recycling streams and two different disposal streams. Transfer stations charge, on average, an additional $15.00 per ton to provide this level of sorting and granularity on a can-by-can basis. The cost of LEED v4 reporting is an important planning consideration as $15.00 a ton can be a significant unplanned amount depending on the project and projected margins. From this, ADR will provide a comprehensive LEED v4 waste management report, aggregating all the different disposal facilities utilized to complete the project.
